Thirty-five years after Lou Reed’s album Berlin flopped, the erstwhile Velvet Undergrounder resurrected the failed rock opera as a stage show. Julian Schnabel filmed a performance for posterity, but the downtown provocateur-turned-Oscar nominee put conspicuously little effort into the undertaking.
